The future of e-commerce is virtual try-on: How to use the Looklet Dressing Room

It’s no secret that E-commerce is booming, with the industry aiming to be at $1 trillion by 2025; 7.18% growth in the last 5 years. Each year online retailers are doing more and more to optimise their customer’s online experiences, increase conversion rates and drive down returns.

Hailed the future of fashion retail e-commerce, virtual try-on, and fitting rooms are the next big step for retailers to become market leaders. Big players like Walmart and Amazon have invested in tools to help their customers shop to visualize their purchases from the comfort of their phones and computers. Current consumer behavior science also supports the idea that consumers are more likely to like your product if the model is similar to them in size, age and race traits.

Many of these fit-tech solutions are built using AR and AI to help customers try before they buy. These initiatives are part of the push to reduce customer returns which eat into profit margins and encourage customers to purchase complementary items to complete their “looks”.

With the Looklet Dressing Room, fashion retailers can offer truly memorable shopping experiences online with the highest standards of image quality, color accuracy, and photo-realism.

  • Combine your current aspirational PDP/imagery with a unique customer experience
  • Increase conversion and cross-sell complementary products
  • Attract and engage customers with an exciting and experimental tool
  • Deepen the relationship through the use of data & technology -giving customers what they want, when they want it
  • Drive down return rates and reduce internal logistics

Using our try-on solution is simple and the interactive feature can be integrated into your website or mobile easily. Here we take you through an easy 3-step guide of the customer journey with the Looklet Dressing Room

Desktop

  1. Customers view your e-commerce site’s category list and each garment list page has a try-on button listed below it. The dressing room widget is closed at this stage
  2. Once the customer selects a garment to try on/style by using the try-on button, the dressing room widget will open and show the garment on models. In this view, customers can:
  • Choose from a library of various models with varying body types. The customer can choose a model that has a similar body type, or any other model they want to see “dressed” in your brand's garments.
  • View a list of all garments within the look
  • Add garments directly to basket

      3. When the customer decides to scroll through the category list, the dressing room will be minimized for better viewing

Mobile

  1. Customer views the category list and selects an item they would like to buy/style. They can add items directly to the Dressing Room from here. The Dressing Room pops up with that item added to the current styling selection
  2. Once on the product detail page (PDP) page, they will also see a ‘Try in Dressing Room’ option
  3. Now your customer can view the item in the Dressing Room with option to change body type, add and remove items, and add items directly to basket. Closing the Dressing Room gets you back to the original PDP for the product of interest.
